How do I know if services are cancelled?

In inclement weather situaitons, or other emergencies, we will have a pop-up banner on the home page indicating cancelled services.

What should I wear?

People at GPC wear a range of clothing on Sunday mornings. Most people dress casually, but you won’t be out of place if you wear a suit or dress. The main idea is the intention of the heart: Who are you dressing for? What are you after? The fact is that, though there is no right way to dress for church, there is a right attitude in dressing for church. We come humbly before our God, honoring him as our king, knowing he does not look at the outward appearance, but at the heart.

What can I expect during the service?

Because God is so great, the worship of Him must also be great. We want to be a church that is both serious about God and happy about God. We pray a lot in our services, and we sing His praises, and we dwell on His Word. We kneel and we stand and we lift up our hands and we sing our hearts out. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every week. And we take the Bible seriously and study it together. We don’t aim at entertainment but at worshiping and glorifying God. He is the spectator; we are the performers. God’s people need to come often to a place where they can be refreshed in the truth of His Word. These are the goals of our worship service. Check out the "Who We Are" tab for more information.

What about families with children?

We value children in our worship services, and they are welcome to remain with their parents throughout the service if so desired. However, we do have age-appropriate ministries available during both the Sunday School hour and Service time:

• Sunday School classes are available from ages 2 through adult. At this time, there is no nursery available during classes, however, the nursery is open for parents to use if desired. More information is located here.
• Nursery is available during the worship services for children infant to age 3. The nursery is located on the lower level of the building across from the steps and is staffed by trained volunteers.
• A private nursing room is available for nursing mothers to use if they desire and is located next to the nursery. Nursing mothers are always welcome to stay in the sanctuary as well.
• Children's Sermon is available for children ages 4-10 and meets downstairs during the sermon portion of the Worship Service. Parents may drop off their children and after the sermon the children are escorted back to the sanctuary to rejoin their families. Children's sermon is optional and parents are welcome to keep their children with them for the sermon.

What about families with disabilities?

You may hear some of our members making noises during our worship service, no need to worry. We warmly welcome all our brothers and sisters, whatever exceptional needs exist, to join in worship here. We believe that God has given us each one of our members for our mutual benefit and encouragement. If there are ways that we can accomodate you, please let us know so that we can do our very best to make it possible for all to worship together.

How do I get more involved?

We love seeing new faces and having lots of volunteers! There are many different ways to get involved at GPC, from cleaning days to worship musicians to children’s ministries, many hands make light work! Some opportunities require church membership (all children’s ministries). If you are interested in helping out, please speak with any church officer or email the church secretary at sec@gpcweb.org.

How might I become a member?

GPC places an importance on church membership.  In order to become a member at GPC you must complete the Inquirer’s Class (offered several times a year) as well as meet with the Session for a discussion of your testimony and a public profession of faith.
