Our Leaders

Our church is led by a board of elders called the "Session." Elders are elected by the congregation according to the qualifications for an elder/overseer in the New Testament (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). They are responsible for the spiritual direction, shepherding, and care of the congregation.

Our church has a board of deacons who are in charge of the church building, the finances, and the care of the needy. They are also elected by the congregation according to the Biblical qualifications (1 Timothy 3:8-13; Acts 6:3).

Stephen Baran

Teaching Elder | Pastor and Moderator

Pastor Stephen serves as the dedicated pastor of Gainesville Presbyterian Church. Stephen graduated from Westminster Seminary California in 2017 and was ordained in 2021. He is married to Katherine, and together they have seven children. In 2024, he and his family moved to Virginia to serve at Gainesville Presbyterian Church, where he seeks to serve with a heartfelt dedication to nurturing spiritual growth and fostering a close-knit, welcoming community.
